Jeanie Marie Buss (born Jeanie Marie Buss) is an American woman who is a businesswoman. Buss is the sole owner of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association and currently acts as the association's president. Buss comes born in California, was raised in an exceptionally wealthy family. Jerry Buss, her father, was an entrepreneur in real estate who became owner of Lakers Sports and Entertainment. She felt abandoned emotionally when her parents separated in 1972. At the age of 19 she was able to take over the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as General Manager. Then, she established the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. She served as the president of the Great Western Forum, before being elected Vice President of the Lakers. Her father died in 2013, and his control over ownership of the Lakers was passed on to Buss as well as her siblings through a family trust which gave each sibling the same vote. Buss assumed the role of the president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss runs Women of Wrestling in Los Angeles, an organization that encourages professional wrestling.
