April Ross

April Ross is one of the few female beach volleyball athletes to win medals at multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian and will join her in Tokyo. Ross also hopes to get her first Olympic gold. At 39, this could be her last chance to achieve it. She remains optimistic that she can achieve top honors. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that if the team plays very well, or even at all, they could win a gold. Also, I am going put my faith in a touch of good luck. Ross was born in 1982 in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a sister. Ross competed in many sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. In addition to indoor volleyball, she played basketball and jogged track in her pre-college days. Although she was a pro at indoor volleyball, it was clear that her skills were above the average. In her college profile, she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker and setter throughout her volleyball time during high school. Gatorade Circle of Champions named her as the National Player of 1999. In addition, she was awarded the 1999 Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross and Klineman may have started working together in 2017, but Ross had already been a seasoned player at the beach before they teamed up. It's true that she has had the chance to win numerous tournaments, including one with the legendary player of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner during six years from 2007 until 2013. Also, she coached Klineman as well as herself. Together, Kessy Ross was an ace on the international circuit winning an international title in 2009. The duo would go on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary duo comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings replaced May-Treanor when she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross was a student athlete with the Trojans of USC prior to the start of her professional career. She played in high school, as well as before hitting the beach professionally. Her experience at USC was quite impressive. In 2000, as a freshman she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year accolades. She also was also an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans get to into the Final Four. During her sophomore year she suffered a tremendous personal loss but still managed to make it back as an All-American. Over the course of her final two seasons she led the Trojans up to the summit and clinched consecutive national championships. The achievements of each individual have established her place as a legendary volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored in the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001, when Ross was still a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. However, she continues to hold her lost parent near and dear. Also, Margie continues to be an inspiration to her on the beach as well as in everyday life.
