John Denver, a singer-songwriter born in Colorado who was a specialist in folk music, touched the hearts of millions. Born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado before settling in Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his state of origin led many to relocate to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said in his report that John Denver was the best artist to capture Colorado. In 2011 Denver was selected as the Hall of Fame's very first inductee. Today he personifies the state for people worldwide. You meet people in other countries, like New Zealanders and tell them "I come from Colorado" then they reply with Oh John Denver. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint in folk groups which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff was the one who wrote the song inspired by Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear the song's early versions and was aware that it was going to be a top 10 chart hit. After performing the track in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer recorded it just days later.
